provides Geographical Information System (GIS) support services to address complex data management and analysis challenges. This technology allows for the efficient management, analysis, and presentation of geospatial data. It is particularly well suited to managing the large volumes of data involved in property and asset management, land development, and specialized studies of sites.
Whether a client wishes to develop and maintain an in-house GIS capability, or to obtain the benefits of GIS technology without developing an internal expertise, PCSI can provide cost-effective support and guidance.
- Data collection, analysis, conversion, loading, and reporting services
- GIS maintenance and/or web hosting
- Selection and configuration of GIS platforms to meet client needs
- Turn-key system installation and personnel training
- Custom enterprise and web application development
PCSI's personnel are skilled in all major GIS software applications in use today. As a result, we can guide clients in selecting the best applications to meet specific data management and reporting needs.
Two distinct approaches are available for using GIS: Stand-alone and Web-enabled. Client needs determine which approach is best.
Stand-alone GIS resides on one or more individual computers. As needed, operators work with a GIS database to produce maps and reports tailored to specific information requests. The finished products are distributed to users as paper copies or electronic files.
Web-enabled GIS allows end users to obtain maps and reports on demand, using a standard web browser, such as Internet Explorer. GIS applications can be developed to run on a client's existing Intranet or Internet site, depending on the intended user. This approach is particularly attractive when multiple users require access to information on an ongoing basis. It has the added advantage of not requiring any specialized software or training for the normal user. (The GIS web site administrator will still need licensed copies of the software and need to be knowledgeable in its use.)
To further simplify implementing and accessing GIS, PCSI can develop and host the GIS web application on our secure Web servers, eliminating the need for the client to invest in any specialized software or extensive personnel training.
Regardless of a client's choice, PCSI is available to help select, design, maintain, and update the GIS application that best meets the client's needs.
